raise your hand if you love the way you feel when you know you are taking care of your body, supplying it with healthy foods filled with the essential vitamins, minerals, and amino acids it needs to function like a boss.
now raise your hand if, even knowing how happy it makes you feel to eat and live well, you just couldn’t resist finishing off that pint of ben & jerry’s, justifying it with the excuse of “it’s going to all be eaten eventually, so i might as well speed up the process and devour it in one sitting”. you choose the ice cream endorphin rush over a steady state of wellness.
all too often, i fall into the latter category. don’t get me wrong, i think it is wonderful to treat ourselves every once in awhile; the issue is that these “treats” can quickly turn into needs, especially as our bodies become addicted to the sugars, stimulants, fill-in-the-blank additives that cause us to function less than fully. our overall health and well-being can deteriorate more rapidly than we might expect as we fall into the habit of choosing indulgence over self-control.
my friend sara wants to change that.
sara was raised to understand the importance of nutrition in regard to overall health and wellness. sara’s grandfather chose nutrition as his form of healing when he was diagnosed with cancer in the early 90’s, and he won his cancer battle. yes, you read that correctly (for more details on how he did it, check out sara’s bio). moving into adulthood, sara’s passion for health grew, and she recognized that through nature we have been given essential tools for living a life that is physically, mentally, and spiritually whole.
now sara wants to help you. whether it’s jump-starting your digestive system, overcoming food-based addictions, or just becoming more mentally and spiritually disciplined in the practice of fasting, sara is here to help. she has started a nutrition focused wellness plan called NOURISH | verb, which allows her to lead clients through seasonally-based juice and whole foods based cleanses over a three week period. the plans typically consist of three days of juicing at the start and finish of the program, and she includes a detailed shopping list and meal plan catered to purifying and rebalancing our bodies between the periods of juicing.
so far, participants of the NOURISH cleanses have responded with results of increased energy and alertness, digestive regularity, sounder and more consistent sleep, weight loss, and decreased headaches and cravings. since sara’s goal is to educate and inform others of the healing properties available through a more heavily plant-based diet, it seems that NOURISH is hitting the nail on the head, particularly as the verb is defined on her website:

Carrot, Apple, and Ginger Breakfast Juice
this gives you natural energy and wakes up your digestive system (if you know what I mean) and by adding lemon it balances your pH levels! the apple and carrots give you good calories and energy that you need to jumpstart your day!
- 1 gala apple
- 6 carrots
- 1/2 inch size piece of ginger (skin off)
- 1 lemon (skin off)
press through juicer or process in blender and squeeze through cheesecloth/nut milk bag. enjoy immediately!
Hydrating Green Dinner Juice
- 5 stalks of kale
- 1 cucumber (peeled if not organic)
- 1/2 green apple
- 2 cups of spinach
- 1 lemon (skin off)
same preparation as above.
